      Class Projects

The primary objective of the class projects is to provide class members with opportunities to develop meaningful leadership skills in real-world settings, while benefiting local non-profit organizations and ultimately preparing class members to effectively lead change in Greater Des Moines.

Participants in the 2018 Community Leadership Program have partnered with the following five local non-profit organizations:

      • Blank Park Zoo – Further develop the Zoo’s inclusivity program for visitors with disabilities.
      • DART and U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants – Improve public transit communication resources to facilitate ease of use for refugees and immigrants.
      • Food Bank of Iowa – Develop an assessment tool to identify and expand partner sites, enabling more locations to provide healthy meals.
      • Genesis – Market and refine branding to support programs that empower under-served youth and immigrant families.
      • Please Pass the Love – Define strategic plan and develop marketing materials to advance their mental health program in Iowa schools.
